Digital Empowerment

My name is Alex and I continue to take part of the multiple available programs that The Fortune Society offers to people that have been impacted by the justice system and that are reacclimating back into society after coming home from Prison or Jail.

I recently took part of the Digital Equity Training Program here at the Fortune Society and I would like to share my experience due to the fact that as a result of me taking the training I have changed my personal experience with the internet system. I am blown away with everything that I continue to learn through the IT Department at the Fortune Society in Long Island City, Queens.

Before taking the first Digital Equity Training class I had a general idea of how to navigate the internet system. The team focused on teaching us about Intro to: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail, to name a few of the programs that I found to be very helpful in my professional and personal growth. As a result of having a strong team that is passionate about helping and teaching others, I have become a lot more confident and self-sufficient when navigating the system. Overall, the Digital Equity Training Program has empowered me tremendously and I am very Fortunate to have been part of this great experience that changed my life completely.

Thank you so much for the great knowledge I acquired as a result of taking part in this course.
